DEVELOPMENT > THE FOUNDATION FOR CATHOLIC SECONDARY EDUCATION
The Foundation for Catholic Secondary Education exists to promote and financially support the religious, charitable and educational endeavors of Catholic Central and West Catholic High Schools and its Diocese through responsible investing and distribution of resources according to the Gospel and the wishes of each donor.
The Foundation for Catholic Secondary Education was founded in 1975 by a dedicated group of individuals and friends who foresaw the importance of private support to the school’s future. The Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that operates for the advancement and development of philanthropic support to Catholic Central and West Catholic High Schools. The Foundation seeks gifts to support tuition reduction for families in need, support the professional development of faculty and to enhance the academic curriculum and campus facilities through permanent endowment funds, planned and estate gifts and annual giving.
The Foundation welcomes gifts of all sizes so that the joy of ultimate stewardship may be shared by everyone, whether donor means are modest or substantial.
Ten things you can do to leave a legacy . . .
1. Prepare a will or trust - only 50% of those who pass away have one. Without a will or trust, you may lose control over your belongings. If you do not prepare a will or trust, the state has one for you.
2. Leave a gift in your will or trust to the Foundation. Less than 6% of American households have included a charity in an estate plan. Imagine the positive impact on our community if everyone made a donation to a favorite charity!
3. Leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the assets in your will or trust to the Foundation.
4. Consider using assets for your charitable gift. These include but are not limited to: stocks, bonds, CDs, real estate, vehicles, art and jewelry. Such gifts may even provide tax savings.
5. Name the Foundation as the beneficiary of your pension plan or IRA.
6. Purchase a new life insurance policy naming the Foundation as the beneficiary or name the Foundation as the beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy.
7. Name the Foundation as the “payable on death” beneficiary of your bank accounts.
8. Remember loved ones with memorial gifts and honor gifts.
9. Encourage family and friends to leave gifts to the Foundation in their wills.
10. Ask your financial advisor to include charitable giving as a part of client counseling.
Please see the Catholic Secondary School gift giving documents below on how to carry out your donor wishes either through a deferred gift plan or current gift opportunity.
