Catholic Central Students Deliver Gifts to Area Families in Need

The halls were alive with Christmas Carolers, laughter, smiles and giving hearts on Friday, December 18, 2009. Each year at Christmas time, students, staff and faculty along with their families gather many, many gifts to deliver to area families in need.

The joy this creates for these young givers is evident on their faces. Toys, clothing, household items and more are brought to the school, wrapped and loaded into cars of the parents of these students who volunteer their time to deliver the gifts. But don’t be fooled. Those receiving the gifts are most certainly gracious and happy to receive, especially in these hard times, however, I wonder if the students and staff at Catholic Central are the ones receiving the best gift of all. After all, it was Jesus himself that taught us that giving is better than receiving. May we all take a moment to appreciate all the times we have been given the opportunity to give as it creates a sense of joy that one cannot find anywhere else.
