First Summer Reading Academy a success
The first-ever combined Catholic Central/West Catholic Summer Reading Academy for incoming Freshmen was an unqualified success.

Summer Reading Academy students show how many books they read over the summer.
In less than two months, the 14 students read a total of 229 books (compared to 120 books during their entire 8th grade school year) and 44,716 pages.
The students posted an average 8 percentile growth on their High School Placement Test Reading Post-Test.
Ms. Faith Marko and Ms. Julia Reynolds coached the students, encouraging them to read constantly to build comprehension and vocabulary.
