The Grand Rapids Catholic Secondary School Admissions Department offers several events to prospective parents and students so they can obtain valuable information about our high schools, ask questions and get a feel for what a day in the life of a student is like. Here are some brief descriptions of the events we offer.
Preview and Parent Information Nights The Catholic Secondary Schools offer three of these information gathering events per year at each high school. One Parent Information Night is held in the fall and two are offered after the first of the year. Parents are invited to join us at the high school for an evening of presentations and a brief tour. They may ask questions and obtain valuable information. These events have been a successful tool in helping parents with their high school decision making process.
Tuition/Financial Management Class It is no secret that Catholic elementary and secondary education is an investment in your children’s future. The Catholic Secondary Schools offer these tuition/financial management classes to parents who have children in preschool through high school with the assistance of Mercantile Bank. We discuss Financial Aid opportunities as well as savings and financing options. To register for this event, please contact Nancy Beadling, Admissions Coordinator at (616) 233-5814 or nancybeadling@grcss.org.
Budgeting Workshop for Catholic Education Chemical Bank is very interested in assisting families afford a Catholic education. Chemical Bank and Catholic Secondary Schools have teamed up and developed a "Budgeting Workshop for Catholic Education" which is available to all parents with students in Preschool up to High School. This workshop will assist parents and guardians desiring a Catholic Education for their children with creating a budget and a financial plan to achieve this goal. To register for this event, please contact Nancy Beadling, Admissions Coordinator at (616) 233-5814 or nancybeadling@grcss.org.
Junior High Visit In an effort to familiarize 7-8th grade students with the offerings at both of our high schools, we invite them to join us at our Junior High Visit. While there, students are exposed to many facets of the school and have the opportunity to tour it as well. This offers them a chance to feel what a day in the life of a high school student is like. To register for this event, please contact Jack Young, Catholic Central Admissions Coordinator at (616) 233-5816 or jackyoung@grcss.org or Nancy Beadling, West Catholic Admissions Coordinator at (616) 233-5814 or nancybeadling@grcss.org. Partner elementary school students will be invited to this event through their respective school.
Freshman Parent Registration Night This event takes place at each high school. Parents will have the opportunity to schedule their personal registration appointment with a counselor along with receiving some valuable information from various speakers. You will not turn in any registration materials at this event. Parents/guardians will pay the $400 deposit and turn in a registration packet at the actual registration appointment with their student and the guidance counselor.
5/6th Grade Music Fest This has been a popular event where we showcase the talents of our high school choirs, bands, orchestra and drama department. We alternate the site every other year between the high schools so that the students can start to feel like they are part of our Catholic Secondary School family.
